Project Description

Beverly Hospital is a general medical and surgical hospital in Montebello, CA, with 102 beds. In 2016, over 15,000 patients visited the hospital’s emergency room. The hospital had a total of 7,180 admissions. Its physicians performed 1,204 inpatient and 2,952 outpatient surgeries.

Athena Engineering, Inc. was engaged by the mechanical engineer, Ted Jacobs Engineering, to assist in the pneumatic to DDC conversion of the hospital and outlying buildings. The phased approach created in conjunction with the facility allows the areas and buildings to be brought online to the new DDC system in conjunction with existing facility renovation plans. The system chosen by Athena Engineering and the facility is a BACnet-based StruxureWare system that includes an expandable, open GUI for easy future integration of any expansion, growth, and renovations occurring at the hospital.

For the first phase, Athena Engineering assisted Ted Jacobs Engineering in creating bridging documents for the OSHPD approval. The first project of the phased conversion was the design-build of a laboratory wing in the hospital that was undergoing renovations.
