INTERNSHIPS AT ATHENA
To be successful in the real world, you need real world experience.
Our internship program offers ambitious students the opportunity to apply skills learned in the classroom to the real world of design-build construction.
Athena Engineering, Inc. offers paid internships to qualified students students enrolled in construction, engineering or software-related majors. Internships last from three to twelve months and are open to students who have completed their first year of college-level courses.
Each intern is placed on a project, and mentored by a Project Manager or Project Engineer. Our unique, multi-disciplinary approach provides a hands-on introduction to the world of mechanical system design and integration, building automation design and integration, and construction management.
Attendance at various meetings – from monthly safety meetings to staff meetings and jobsite tours – is required. As a result, you and your manager must develop a set schedule of at least 20 hours a week for the duration of your internship.
While an internship is not a guarantee of employment, we often look to our current and past interns for addition to our full-time team. To learn about current opportunities and apply, please complete the internship application.
WHAT DOES YOUR WEEK LOOK LIKE AS AN INTERN?
Always exciting and never dull are the best ways to describe my time as an intern at Athena Engineering. I was given first-hand experience on both the engineering and field technician level that allowed me a true understanding of the entire HVAC/Construction process. They were also flexible with my hours week to week, allowing me to maximize my work hours while still being able to take off before a big exam. Best of all there was never a quiet moment, in terms of the work or the people, which made my internship both educational and enjoyable.
This internship program is really nice for students who are in college or about to graduate from college because the hours are flexible and the things you learn on the job coincide with what you learn in the classroom. If you ever have a question or need a second opinion about something, you will never feel scared to ask because everyone is very helpful and has an “open-door” relationship. Athena Engineering believes in investing in their workers and you can see that from the quality of work that is produced. I never felt like a number or just another employee, even as an intern you are treated as a person and will be given a lot of responsibilities. Aside from the work you will quickly become a part of the company family by being involved in different social activities like summer BBQ’s, fantasy football leagues, birthday parties, pizza parties and so much more, which is important to have in order to build relationships with your coworkers. It really makes it fun to come to work everyday and helps you enjoy what you are doing.
