Schneider Electric and Honeywell received top rankings in the crowded field of Building Energy Management Systems from Navigant Research in a recent report. Navigant, a market research firm that provides in-depth analysis of global clean technology markets, examined the strategy and execution of 15 intelligent building solutions providers that are active in the global BEMS market. The vendors were rated on 12 criteria: vision; go-to-market strategy; partners; production strategy; technology; geographic reach; sales, marketing, and distribution; product performance; product quality and reliability; product portfolio; pricing; and staying power.
In an increasingly fragmented industry, Building Energy Management Systems must differentiate themselves not simply with devices, but with software that processes data and information from an increasing array of sensors, valves, meters, and other systems. It is not simply enough anymore to control a piece of equipment, data must now be actionable. In addition, building operators and end-users are increasingly demanding systems that are “open” and non-proprietary, allowing them the option of choosing any service provider they like or administrating the system themselves. In a field dominated by proprietary software from Johnson Controls and Siemens, these changes in customer demands have allowed open protocol systems like Schneider and Honeywell to thrive.
Athena Engineering is proud to be a channel partner of both Schneider Electric and Honeywell, the very best in not only Building Energy Management Systems, but also in open systems. These systems allow our clients to use us because they want to, not because they have to.
