Project Description
The Southern California Gas Company’s Pico Rivera base is the headquarters for the utility’s facilities, training, and various operational departments. Athena Engineering, Inc. was the holder of a 3-year Master Services Agreement with Southern California Gas and managed the replacement of two chiller’s at the Pico Rivera base.
The design-build chiller replacements involved the demolition and haul-off of the two existing chillers and replacement with new machines. The first chiller installed was a 150-ton Trane unit and the second was a 150-ton Broad, all-electric absorption chiller. Additional scope included: new isolation pads, floor sinks, the extension of existing concrete pads VFD’s, and pumps.
The facility was kept operational and functioning during the demolition and installation of the new equipment.
