Project Description

In 2014, the County of Riverside Economic Development Agency approved the construction of a new 14,400 juvenile hall court building with associated facilities at the Southwest Justice Center in Riverside, CA, managed by the Judicial Council of California. The mechanical equipment on this project included a free standing mechanical yard and rooftop units.

Athena Engineering, Inc. was engaged by Design West Engineering to assist in the design of the new Lon-based building automation controls system to integrate with the Riverside Superior Court front-end. The system chosen as the basis of design was StruxureWare by Schneider Electric. Athena Engineering worked with West-Tech Mechanical, the HVAC contractor on the project, to install the specified system across the new court facility, including three rooftop VAV units, two split-systems, 32 VAV controllers with reheat, one boiler, VFD’s, and other associated equipment. In addition to building automation,  Athena Engineering provided monitoring of the main electrical power and the lighting control system.
