— Building Automation

Controls. For the building you actually have.

Schneider, Johnson Controls, Argus — installed natively or on Niagara, whichever fits. Pneumatic and Andover migrations. Laboratory pressurization and grow-room control. Service contracts on systems we didn't install (and would not have installed). Forty years inside the panels means you don't get the platform our vendor rep is pushing this quarter. You get what your building needs.

— Capabilities

What we actually do in BAS.

Nine tracks — from Schneider EcoStruxure and Powered by Niagara to cultivation controls, access control, and legacy migrations. All in-house. Not subcontracted.

Schneider platforms & cloud hosting

EcoStruxure Building Operation, native Schneider. Powered by Niagara, open framework with Schneider hardware. Neeve cloud layer for browser-based remote access, no VPN. EcoXpert certified across the stack.

JCI Facility Explorer

Johnson Controls hardware running on Niagara. Authorized Systems Integrator credential. Where it fits, it fits cleanly.

Argus — Cultivation HVAC & Controls

Controlled environment agriculture. Cannabis, greenhouses, vertical farms, research. Argus platform paired with in-house mechanical — both trades under one crew. See our full capabilities

Access Control — Access Expert / Security Expert

Adjacent to BAS on the same Schneider platform. Access Expert (cloud) or Security Expert (on-prem). Integrated with EBO so cards and doors sit alongside HVAC in the operator view. See our access control work

Legacy migrations & vendor-neutral integration

Pneumatic-to-DDC. TAC Xenta. I/A Series. Andover Continuum. LonWorks-to-BACnet. Plus vendor-neutral Niagara integration for multi-vendor buildings — one shared language to hold the whole thing together. See our migration playbook

Laboratory + critical environments

Fume hoods, VAV labs, room pressure cascade, BSL containment, fast-response venturi valves. Most commercial BAS firms cannot credibly compete here. We can.

— Certified Partners

The platforms we install.

Schneider Electric

EcoXpert certified. Multi-product Schneider partner — building automation, access control, and security on one platform.

EcoStruxure EBO Powered by Niagara Access Expert Security Expert

JCI Facility Explorer

Authorized Systems Integrator. Johnson Controls hardware on the open Niagara framework.

Powered by Niagara

Argus Controls

Controlled environment agriculture. Greenhouses, grow operations, research facilities, vertical farms.

— Adjacent capability

Access control. Same platform.

Schneider EcoStruxure Access Expert (cloud) and Security Expert (on-premises) run on the same backbone as the BAS. One certified Schneider partner. One dashboard. One data flow. Card readers, door controllers, mobile credentials, visitor management — installed, configured, integrated.

HID is our primary credential platform. Both Schneider products are open by design — they integrate with Aiphone, Bosch, Axis, and most other access and surveillance brands. You are not locked into a single ecosystem.

Cloud or on-premises deployment — Schneider Electric Access Expert (cloud) and Security Expert (on-premises)

Cloud or on-premises — you pick the deployment.

— Open Framework Integration

The framework underneath most of it.

When the building is a mix of vendors — and most are — Niagara is the shared language that ties it together. EcoStruxure EBO when that's the right call. Powered by Niagara when an open front-end matters. Vendor-neutral Niagara integration when the building is everything at once.

No vendor lock-in. The system the building needs, not the system locked into our certifications. For the record: Athena holds formal Tridium Niagara certification, alongside Schneider EcoXpert, JCI Facility Explorer ASI, and Argus. Manufacturer-trained across all of it.

— Legacy Migrations

Modernize the head-end. Keep the wiring.

You do not have to rewire the building to modernize the BAS. Twisted-pair migration controllers bridge the legacy field bus to BACnet IP, so the head-end gets a new front-end — Schneider EcoStruxure or Niagara — while the existing field wiring keeps doing its job.

Schneider Electric systems are backwards compatible to their legacy lines. TAC Xenta. I/A Series. Andover Continuum. Pneumatic conversion to DDC. The migration path to EcoStruxure Building Operation is documented. The migration path to Niagara is documented. You do not have to rip and replace.

For the record: we sell these phased. Most owners cannot absorb a full BAS replacement in one capital cycle. We do not ask them to.

Twisted-pair migration controllers bridge legacy field bus to BACnet IP — no rewiring required.

— Phased pathway

Budgeted in pieces. Operational throughout.

Most legacy modernizations move through four phases. Each phase has its own ROI, can stand alone in a capital cycle, and the building keeps running the whole time. We have sequenced this across institutional clients, public agencies, and private owners.

01

Head-end

New EBO or Niagara front-end software. Existing field hardware keeps running. Smallest capital. Biggest visibility change.

02

Network controllers

Twisted-pair migration controllers bridge the legacy field bus to BACnet IP. Rolled out building by building, floor by floor.

03

Field controllers

Zone, AHU, and VAV controllers swap to current Schneider or Niagara hardware. Existing wiring stays in place.

04

Field devices

Sensors and actuators replaced where they need refresh. Some last decades. We replace what is worn — not what works.

— Cloud + Remote Access

Access the building without a VPN.

Traditional BAS remote access starts with a VPN client, an IT ticket, and a jump box someone forgot to update. That's not the answer anymore. We deploy Neeve — a zero-trust cloud platform for building systems — where the front-end is a browser tab and the security posture is one IT will actually approve.

Three pieces, one subscription. Browser-based remote access from anywhere. BMS cloud hosting so the server isn't aging out in a mechanical room. Edge intelligence for analytics and fault detection, running in the same secure envelope as the BAS. Niagara 4 supported natively — plus any Windows or Linux-based BMS: EcoStruxure Building Operation, Facility Explorer, Niagara.

SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, NIST-aligned, third-party pen-tested. For the record — we run it on our own building first before we recommend it to yours.

— Cultivation HVAC & Controls

Grow-room controls. With the mechanical to back them.

Grow-room HVAC + controls — Athena installs both trades under one roof

Cultivation HVAC + Controls — both trades, one crew.

Argus is the platform when the room has to do more than be comfortable. Light recipes. CO2 enrichment. Vapor pressure deficit. Irrigation scheduling tied to nutrient delivery. Sensor arrays that read transpiration loads in real time, not on a 15-minute poll.

A working grow room is a mechanical engineering problem before it is a controls problem. Most controls integrators skip that part. Dehumidification sizing, light-heat coupling, HVAC capacity under load — if the mechanical design is wrong, the most sophisticated controls in the world won't save the crop.

Athena does both. The mechanical and the controls. From the same people. The combination is uncommon — most controls integrators don't self-perform mechanical, and most mechanical contractors don't carry Argus certification. We do.

— Critical Environments

Where pressure control isn't optional.

Laboratory pressurization fails in seconds, not minutes. A fume hood sash opens. A room offset drifts. An exhaust fan trips on a faulty VFD. The control loop has to respond before the next breath an occupant takes.

This is specialty work. Variable air volume lab control. Phoenix-style venturi valves. Real-time room pressure measurement with redundant sensors. Pressure cascade design across whole suites. Fume hood face velocity targets that hold while the building's central exhaust is fighting for static pressure.

We have done this in water-quality labs, university research, sample-handling facilities. The flagship is the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power Water Quality Laboratory — active pressurization across the building, sample integrity under regulatory audit, redundancy on the loops that matter most.

Los Angeles County Public Health Laboratory — interior view, active pressurization environment Operator at a controlled fume hood — face velocity and exhaust regulation

— After turnover

We stay with the building.

A BAS is only as good as the team running it a year in. Training, remote support, response when something's off — the service side of our practice is why owners keep the number.

Operator training

On-site and remote. New-user orientation through advanced system modifications. Four hours of remote training are bundled with our maintenance contracts — unless the site prefers otherwise.

Client portal + ticket tracker

Every service client gets a portal with tickets, history, and a library of building-specific how-tos. Sometimes a five-minute Loom video solves the problem — and for maintenance clients, that's on us.

Response you can plan against

Two-hour response during business hours. Next business day after hours. On-site and remote coverage both.

Service & maintenance contracts

Multi-year agreements bundling scheduled visits, remote hours, and time-and-materials work. Software upgrades, ticket-tracker access, remote hosting via Neeve, and hand-off training all live inside the contract.

— Public sector

OMNIA Partners cooperative purchasing.

Public agencies procuring building automation, controls, security, or access work can buy through Schneider Electric's OMNIA Partners cooperative purchasing agreement — no separate RFP, no bid cycle.

Three active contracts, all sourced by Region 4 Education Service Center (Texas):

  • Facility Technology Integration & Security System ServicesR220703
  • Energy SolutionsR221504
  • Building Management Services2023003495

Athena delivers as a Schneider EcoXpert. Same crew, same platform, one procurement pathway.

Eligible buyers: non-federal government agencies (municipalities, K-12, higher-ed, transit, utilities, state departments) and non-profit organizations.
