Client: Maryvale (Daughters of Charity)
Location: Duarte, CA
Service Line: Mechanical HVAC & Building Automation with Security Integration
Maryvale, run by the Daughters of Charity, is a social-welfare organization in Duarte that serves foster children and youth recovering from trauma. For its new 35,600-square-foot, ground-up center, a multi-story building with subterranean parking, classrooms, a kitchen, offices, and a playground, Athena provided the mechanical HVAC and the building automation, including the security integration. The building earned LEED Silver from the U.S. Green Building Council.
On the mechanical side, we handled HVAC for the whole project — air distribution, mechanical piping, and exhaust for the subterranean parking garage — all running on controls we installed.
In a building full of young children, one unified view is part of how staff keep the place safe.
The front-end is what sets this one apart. Athena brought the building’s security onto the same system as the mechanical controls: access control, cameras, and an Aiphone entry intercom, all run from one place alongside the HVAC. In a building full of young children, that single, unified view is part of how staff keep the place safe.
Athena still services the account, the mechanical controls and the integrated security alike.
