The Macys Home Store is located in Las Vegas, Nevada is a busy department store sitting on over 203,500 square feet of property. Athena Engineering was contracted for multiple projects on site, including shoring of the overhang and replacement of the asphalt, concrete, and gutters on the entire property.
Athena Engineering managed the scope of work for this project and partnered with CivilWerx, a locally-owned asphalt and concrete subcontractor to complete the parking lot. The 5-week schedule tracked through monsoon season, but was successfully accelerated and completed within 4 weeks. The project included a replacement of the entire 203, 500 square foot parking lot with 3” asphalt and 6” base around the Macys facility. In addition to the asphalt replacement, Athena Engineering tracked high point elevations, valley gutters, storm drains and ADA upgrades. The project passed inspection the first time with 98% compaction, surpassing the 95% requirement on all areas. This project was done in three phases and all seven stores on the property were kept open and operational during construction.
