Yaamava’ Resort & Casino (formerly San Manuel Casino) in Highland runs around the clock, and a casino floor that never closes can’t afford an HVAC system that falters. To make sure it wouldn’t, the owner brought Athena in as an independent, third-party commissioning agent to verify that the building automation and HVAC would perform the way they were designed to.
We wrote the commissioning plan first — the responsibilities, the lines of communication, and the checks that would prove the system worked end to end. Then we ran them, verifying the installation, the function of each system, the integration between them, and the performance of the whole, working alongside the mechanical and controls contractors through Division 15.
As an independent commissioning agent, Athena had one job: confirm that what got installed actually delivered. The owner gets a check on function, integration, and reliability from a party with no stake in the construction — which is exactly what makes third-party commissioning worth doing. On a floor that never goes dark, that assurance is the deliverable.
