Project Description

Kaiser Ontario Medical Center, located in Ontario, CA, is a 224-bed hospital that provides health services to the West end of San Bernardino County. This design-build project was one of three awarded to Athena Engineering, Inc. by Kaiser Permanente at Ontario Medical Center during the last half of 2016.

The $1.7 million scope included full 3D BIM pre-construction coordination of all involved trades. As the prime contractor, Athena Engineering served as the lead of the coordination team for the mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural steel, fire sprinkler, plumbing, and medical gas contractors. Throughout the pre-construction process, Athena Engineering performed constructibility analysis and budget validation. The general construction scope was the remodel of four existing shelled operating rooms, totaling approximately 5,500 SF, at the Hospital building to build four operating and one interventional radiology room. The operating room ceiling, designed by Guardian Ceiling Systems, is a fully integrated ceiling system consisting of laminar diffusers, HEPA filters, LED light fixtures and structural boom supports. In addition to self-performing the Mechanical HVAC, Athena Engineering was responsible for the overall schedule and turning over the turn-key project.
